A proper supercar for less than £20,000? Yep, that'll be the Factory Five GTM from the USA. But there's a catch... you have to finish building it yourself. That's not quite so unusual in the USA, where Noble sells cars that require the engine to be supplied and fitted by the customer.
In the case of the GTM, the engine is a Corvette V8, offering anything from 350 to 515bhp. Factory Five reckons the 350bhp 5.7-litre V8 can do 0-60mph in around 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 180mph, so just think what's possible with the 7.0-litre V8 from a Corvette Z-06.
You'll also need to source the suspension, brakes and a Porsche gearbox for the GTM. Factory Five claims the Corvette has an excellent supply network, which should make it easy to obtain parts.
The basic kit costs £10,500 and Factory Five estimate it should take a decent home mechanic around 300 hours to complete a car. We reckon the result is worth it.
