Cadillac is adding to its China portfolio with the debut of the 2007 Cadillac SLS, which is based on the STS. The SLS will make its debut later this month at the Auto China 2006 show.
The SLS has been lengthened by 3.9 inches to add rear-seat legroom. The automaker said in a statement that the interior is designed to meet "specific local needs in this primarily chauffeur-driven luxury segment." Three engine options will be available and include the 2.8-liter V6, a 3.6-liter V6 and the 320-horsepower Northstar 4.6-liter V8. The SLS will be built at Shanghai GM for the China market.
"The Cadillac SLS is a very important addition to our lineup in China, as it meets very specific market needs," said Jim Taylor, Cadillac general manager. "Cadillac reacts to country-specific requirements and is proud to offer the SLS to Chinese luxury customers who demand extra space in the rear and other features."
Cadillac's China lineup includes the CTS, the XLR and the SRX. The Escalade will also join the lineup soon.
