BRADENTON, Fla. — Baldwin-Motion is a great name in vintage-Camaro conversions, and its SuperSpeedster, based on the wide-body '69 Chevrolet Camaro, is no exception.
The muscle car gets an 8.8-liter V8 that makes north of 700 horsepower.
Don't let the hand crafting and the vintage looks fool you: This is a modern exemplar with air-conditioning and other modern conveniences. The SuperSpeedster has a Baldwin-Motion-built 540-cubic-inch (8.8 liter) all-aluminum big-block V8 with cross-ram fuel injection that, the company says, makes more than 700 hp "at the flywheeland throttle response is spectacular." The engine is mated to a five-speed Tremec transmission with a custom carbon-fiber driveshaft.
All this, plus interiors made to customers' specifications, including pedals, steering wheel, seat and gear lever all placed to the driver's measurements.
The SuperSpeedster Camaro is priced at an invigorating $495,000. For that, you get a car signed by Joel "Mr. Motion" Rosen and full photographic and paper documentation.
