We've never quite worked out what Vauxhall's Signum actually is. Estate? MPV? Family car? Limo?
And trying to pigeonhole the Vectra-based oddity is going to get even more difficult with Vauxhall's announcement of a new top-of-the-range model. The flagship Signum boasts an uprated version of Vauxhall's V6 powerplant, developing a nice round 250bhp and seeing off 0-60mph in just under seven seconds. With the choice of a six-speed manual or auto 'box, it will come with ESP-Plus as standard. Despite the aggressive styling, Vauxhall isn't giving the new Signum its VXR badge. But with VXR versions of the Zafira, Meriva and Vectra already in showrooms, that can't be because it's worried about diluting the brand. You see why we get confused?
Prices for the range-topping Signum start at £23,050, and the car is on sale now.
