DETROIT — General Motors formally announced on Thursday what had been rumored for months: that Saturn will further expand its U.S. lineup with yet another Opel product, the compact Astra.
Saturn said it will add the Astra to its portfolio in late 2007 as a 2008 model. GM released an image of a Saturn Astra three-door hatchback; the brand is also expected to market a four-door Astra sedan.
By late 2007, Saturn's lineup will include the Astra, the Aura, the Outlook, the Sky and the Vue — all of them new or redesigned over a 20-month span.
