The Ford F-150 pick-up is losing its grip on the title of the US's best-selling vehicle.
Falling sales have been blamed on increasing consumer awareness of environmental issues and the spiralling cost of fuel.
To counteract slipping sales, Ford has further discounted the F-150, with savings of up to $4,500 (£2,445).
The entry-level F-150 costs from $18,710 (£10,164) and with the discount available comes in at around $14,500 (£7,900).
The F-150 accounts for more than 25% of Ford's sales in the US, where it should sell 900,000 of the pick-ups in 2006.
