China has always been a lucrative market for the stretched-wheelbase versions of luxury sedans. Keeping this in mind, BMW unveiled Gran Coupe which is longer and wider to its 7-series saloon concept and now Mercedes Benz follows the suit and revealed E-Class L at Beijing Motor Show.
Mercedes Benz E-Class will be available in two six cylinder engine options: E 260 with 204 hp and E 300 with 245hp. Also, with its wheelbase of 119 inches and a length of 197 inches, E-Class L has gained extra 5.5 inches that gives passengers an extra legroom in comparison with regular wheelbase E-Class.
The other features include an electric adjustment for the rear seats, PRE-SAFE occupant protection system, Rear Seat Safety package, belt force limiters on the outer seats, rear side airbags and Attention Assist drowsiness detection.
Mercedes Benz E-Class’s ground clearance has also grown and the car features Merc’s Agility Control suspension system as well. Cars will be assembled in China by Beijing Benz Automotive Corporation and first sales will start in the Chinese market this June.
