MONTE CARLO, Monaco — Swiss auto-components company Weber Sportcars will unveil a lightweight carbon-fiber-bodied sports car at the exclusive Top Marques show in Monaco, April 19-22.
The company says it entirely designed, developed and built the car in Switzerland, including its carbon-fiber body, aircraft-aluminum chassis, transmission and differentials. The complete chassis weighs only 143 pounds, Weber says.
Weber's creation reaches 62 mph in 2.7 seconds and is "guaranteed" to reach a top speed above 248 mph thanks to a midmounted, intercooled 7.2-liter V8 engine, although horsepower has not yet been revealed. The engine is mated to a semi-automated sequential six-speed transmission Weber calls one of its "biggest innovations," boasting the ability to make 80-millisecond gearchanges.
Nineteen-inch Weber alloy wheels, a Formula 1-style steering wheel, carbon-ceramic brakes with ABS, traction control, an onboard camera, and leather and carbon-fiber interior complete the package.
