STUTTGART — Silver equals sporty in the new sports package for the
Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. The German automaker rolled out the new package on Wednesday with a price tag of $3,925.

The package is designed for
SL350 and
SL500 models with black leather cabin trim only. That provides the best palette to show off the silver-colored contrast stitching on the seats, steering wheel, dashboard, center console and other parts of the cabin. Other interior treatments include a roof liner trimmed in black fabric, "new look" aluminum trim and perforated leather on the steering wheel.
The chief technical highlight of the new sports package is a 7G-Tronic Sport seven-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel shift paddles.
Mercedes-Benz said the 7G-Tronic Sport is "capable of shortening gearshift times by as much as 30 percent." A new sports air cleaner helps to produce a "richer sporty sound in the SL350," the company said.
The
sports package includes new 19-inch wheels with a new five-twin-spokes design, silver front brake calipers and dark-tinted taillights.
