Seat has given its Altea the boot.
We don't mean it's been drop kicked into touch, but that there's now a longer version with a larger boot.
The 187mm longer Altea XL frees up a further 123 litres of boot space, increasing luggage capacity to 532 litres from the standard model's 409 litres.
There's no third row of seats, but the existing rear chairs slide and can be moved forward to increase the cargo hold capacity to 635 litres.
The rear end has also been slightly restyled with new lights, but the front stays the same as before.
The Altea XL is the first car in the VW Group to be powered by the 1.8-litre direct injection turbocharged petrol engine, while the rest of the engine line-up remains unchanged.
No word on prices yet, but the Altea XL makes its first appearance at the Paris motor show next month and will go on sale in the UK at the start of 2007.
