There's some good news for Vauxhall today (May 17) as the company unveils its new Corsa.

There's a strong family resemblance to the Astra in the Corsa's sweeping roofline, and chief designer Niels Loeb said: "We wanted to give the Corsa owner a feel-good factor. It just cried out to be driven."

To underline this, Vauxhall has spent much time making the Corsa as good to drive as possible and it's the first car in its class to have variable sports power steering to improve feel on twisty roads.

To start with, there will be 1.0-, 1.2- and 1.4-litre petrol engines and a 1.3-litre turbodiesel.

There's also a 123bhp 1.7 turbodiesel from when the Corsa goes on sale in September, but the company promises a hot VXR model will arrive soon after.

Standard models will have a Sport option that includes lowered suspension and 17in alloy wheels.

Inside, the new Corsa has greater space for heads, legs and luggage, and the stereo will be compatible with MP3 players.
