Set your alarms, ready your Big Red Pen upon your calendar, order your tattooist to create a permanent mirror-image reminder upon your forehead in three-inch letters: we have the Official Start Date For Series 15 of TopGear and we shall reveal it…
Ready?
8pm on BBC Two on Sunday June 27.
That’s it. Right there. You probably thought you already knew it, what with all the rampant speculation flying around the internet. But you didn’t. Not Officially, anyhow. But you do now. You can tell it’s official. It has a full stop and everything.
We’ll have plenty more information on what to expect from Series 15 over the next few weeks. Just as a teaser, though, how do you like the sound of modified motor homes, the real story behind the Reliant Robin, the death of the Chevrolet Lacetti, a race between the VW Touareg and a pair of extreme snowmobilers… and the Stig doing some bad things in a Bentley Continental Supersports?
Richard Hammond – wee lad, white teeth – is most looking forward to the something a little less extreme, however.
“The emotional tribute to the British sports car is silly but fun and, I think, has some genuinely touching moments as we were the best in the world at making sports cars,” says Richard. Don’t worry, there’ll be plenty of overly horsepowered, wildly expensive metal hitting the track, too.
“We’re going to hit every single supercar as well,” Richard tells us. “In truth nobody’s buying them right now, but it doesn’t make any difference because it’s mostly a feature for the 10-year-old in all of us that just wants to look at the new Ferrari 458 or R8 Spyder…”
So that’s Series 15 of TopGear, kicking off at 8pm on BBC Two on Sunday June 27. Join us.
