Hot on the heels of the Lexus LS's unveiling at the Geneva show, New York sees the arrival of the LS600.
The LS600 is the hybrid version of Lexus's luxury saloon and is set to topple the Mercedes S-Class' claim to be the most economical car in the sector.
A V8 engine coupled to a 200bhp electric motor will give the LS600 strong performance, while Lexus insiders say the car will be capable of around 35mpg.
The hybrid combination will also deliver lower carbon dioxide emissions than diesel-engined rivals from Audi, BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes.
The LS goes on sale in the UK at the end of 2006 with prices starting around £50,000, while the LS600 is expected in the spring of 2007 with a price tag of around £55,000.
